Fourth of July Schedule and new farmer!

We have a new farmer — Pomykala Farm from Grand Isle — providing asparagus, Swiss chard, and baby carrots! Click here for their website.

The new Delivery Day is Thursday
This week is the start of our new summer schedule. You can pick up at the farm between 8 am and 8 pm (let us know if you’ll be after noon so we can refrigerate your share). You can pick up at Regal Gymnastics Academy from 8:30AM – 7:00PM (Shares will be just inside the entrance in air-conditioned entry – not refrigerated. Please pick up as early as you can.)

For those of you who pick up at the farm – Drive around to the side of the barn opposite the silos – to the side closest to the greenhouse frame and enter the gate on that side. You’ll see a small sliding door open for you. There’ll be a table set up inside. All meat cheese and eggs will be in a cooler clearly labelled with the family name.

BUT the 4th of July falls on a Thursday, so we’ll plan on July 3rd, Wednesday afternoon for pick up and delivery. I will be in touch with you personally to make arrangements if you normally pick up at Regal Gymnastics Academy as the gym is closed that day.

Additional fourth week CSA products are strawberries, lettuce mix, kale, butterhead lettuce, garlic scapes, herbs. Add ons are lamb, grass-fed beef, chicken and eggs, cheese and bread.

Third week CSA – Delivery Day Change & New Bags

Please mark your calendars! Delivery Day Change
Starting next week, the week of the 17th, we will be delivering CSA shares on Thursdays. You can pick up at the farm between 8 am and 8 pm (let us know if you’ll be after noon so we can refrigerate your share). You can pick up at Regal Gymnastics Academy from 8:30AM – 7:00PM (Shares will be just inside entrance in air-conditioned entry – not refrigerated. Please pick up as early as you can.)

New Bags
You’ll notice that your share is packed in a new reuseable bag. Each family has two bags. Please return your bag either to the farm or to Regal each week so we can keep swapping them. Your bags are labelled on the lower left with your family name and the number 1 or 2.

The third week’s CSA products are green lettuce, spinach, green garlic, arugula, potted herb, red head lettuce, kale, basil, parsley, strawberries, chives and other mixed vegetables. Add ons are grass-fed beef, ground sausage, chicken and eggs, cheese and bread. Enjoy your fresh green salads while these tender greens are plentiful! Salads are always a great way to start a meal to make sure you get plenty of vegetables in before the main course. Our newsletter has recipes for arugula, spinach, kale and chives.

Welcome

Welcome to Health Hero Island Farm.  This is the first week we are offering our “Islands Farms CSA”,  a multi-farm CSA offering products almost exclusively from the Lake Champlain Islands.

Click here to see our first CSA Newsletter.

We are developing web pages to tell you more about our partner farmers.

We’d like to shout out a special thank you to the first three who decided to
support this multi-farm CSA idea last fall when we were writing our proposal to
VLT and SHLT.  For more photos and information, please visit the pages for Blue Heron, Darby Farm and Savage Gardens.
